The Farm Directed by Leo Villares The Farm is a dark comedy set in an idyllic retreat in Brazil. Calvin and Hanna are an English couple who come to the Farm expecting rest and relaxation, in the hopes that this will get them through a rocky patch in their relationship. When they meet Bernardo, the eccentric guru of the Farm, they learn that the 'resort' is actually an experimental psychotherapy centre. To protect his girlfriend and his sanity from the meddling guru, Calvin will have to dive head-first into the hippy free-for-all. SIN EATER by Hogarth Coote Based on the real practice of sin-eating. A Sin-eater was a historical occupation in 16-19th century England, Wales and Scotland where individuals were called to funerals to consume a meal in front of the deceased. By eating the food, they symbolically absorbed the deceased’s sins, allowing the dead to be absolved and enter heaven. Are you South West Based? This is for you! You will have the opportunity to critically judge and select award-winning short films, have meetings with industry-relevant professionals and write about film for our New Wave Journal. Apply here This programme targets film enthusiasts and is aimed to take participants through educational sessions this November. The programme culminates in jury sessions where participants view and judge the festival's International Shorts and select the winner. They took part in 4 sessions: a writing workshop with Amanda White, and 3 guest speaker sessions with Hannah Strong (Digital Editor at Little White Lies), Mark Cosgrove (British film programmer working at Watershed), and the Bulgarian filmmakers duo Mina and Vesela.     CFF Short Film Competition 2024 This year's competition is open for entries! Categories Timeline Submitting The 23rd edition of the Cornwall Film Festival is about to open for entries from across the globe Now is the time to enter your short films & music video to our competition. In 2021 Cornwall Film Festival changed it's name to Mor Media Charity to incorporate the wide range of work the charity does across the year. Cornwall Film Festival still forms the core of MMC and we look forward to welcoming you to CFF2024 in Falmouth and across Cornwall. If your film is shortlisted your work will be judged by our panel of expert judges This included in 2020 Andy De Emmony (The Last Kingdom, Four Kids & It), Kate Cheesman (Call the Midwife), Joss Agnew (Poldark), Yazmin Joy Vigus (Mermaids) and many more. Shortlisted films will also be screened at the Mor Media/Cornwall Film Festival new Shorts Weekend (physically or digitally). South West Regional Shorts a short film made or produced by filmmakers in the South West Region of the United Kingdom. < 20 minutes Screen Stars of Tomorrow a short film < 20 minutes made by someone 18 years old or under as of the 31st July 2022. At the age of 24, Dudley Porteous boarded a ship called the Irpinia in search of a better life in England, the so-called mother country. Now 86 years old, Dudley reflects on his exciting journey to sea and the harsh reality that lay ahead. What We Wished We Could Be Directed by Luke Shelley Based on a true story. Two interwoven moments in the relationship of a couple affected by the contaminated blood scandal, revealing their sacrifices, their love, and the things they never felt safe to say. That Night by Emma Miranda Moore Nat, a young writer, reflects on a chaotic London evening spent catching up with his friend Harry. Replaying the night’s events from memories real and imagined, Nat tries to find a logic in Harry’s behaviour and in what happened afterwards. KEEP Directed by Lewis Rose Gordon, the former keeper of a lighthouse now turned into a museum, is desperate for someone to help him maintain the site. When Musa, an Afghan refugee, comes knocking on his door, Gordon finally finds the helper he has been waiting for. The two men become friends, confronting their respective cultures and pasts with humour and kindness. Costs Cornish residents, who have NOT attended an ESF funded workshop previously, are entitled to ONE free workshop , subsidised by the European Social Fund, subject to completing a participant form and providing ID.
